Do you recognize the quote in this Something Wicked card? It is from Macbeth but also a movie that I love this time of year! The front is layered with foam tape to give it some dimension and the inside is drawn with a white pen.
THe white ink is thick and put some spots on the cauldron side but I thought it added a spooky touch so I left it. The card fits in an A7 envelope for mailing even with the added thickness.
You will need:
- Heavy 2 sided cardstock for the base
- Various Cardstock scraps
- White Pen
- Glue
- Foam Tape
- Download File
Paper Selection
This card was done in traditional Halloween colors. The black base card needs to be fairly heavy (110 lb wt. or higher) and it does need too be two sided. I tried patterns on the other layers and they didn’t really work except for the top purple layer but the little skulls needed to be plain paper.
Cutting the card
Cut the card base and the Cricut will do the writing. I used a white gel pen. White gel pens differ greatly on what works and doesn’t. There is a post on choosing a white pen here. If you are thinking of buying one, this is a must read!
Did you know that you can use any pen in your Cricut? You can see the trick here. I used a font called old English Text MT and you can download it free at Dafontfree
The little pieces are easy to loose. Make sure you keep track of them. You can also use little stickers if you want.
Assembling the Something Wicked Card
First re-crease the fold. Then, using foam tape, layer the front of the card and put it together. The witch attaches to the front of the base card. The layers look like this:

Once the layers are together, attach the little cut outs to each layer. Don’t do what I did. Make sure they are all right side up. You will notice that some of them are upside down. I didn’t notice until I was taking the pictures and thought it was a good lesson in paying attention so I left them. Finally, assemble the flourish on the front and attach it.
The Something Wicked Card with the aperture on the front is done. Remember it fits in an A7 envelope.
