Sympathy Arrow Fold Card

I hate doing sympathy cards.  It means someone I care about is gone or hurting.  But they are a fact of life.  Hopefully this Arrow Fold card will let tat person that is hurting know that they are in my thoughts.

This card uses vinyl instead of cardstock for the white details.  If you are going to download this card, try to use the design space file.  The SVG file had to be simplified to get the detail for the vinyl.

You will need:

Paper Selection for the Arrow Fold Sympathy Card

I did this card with a simple black and white theme.  Change the colors to whatever you like but I suggest you keep it simple.  The base card cardstock needs to be two sided and fairly heavy (at least 110 lb. weight).  The decorations were done with removable vinyl.

Cutting the Arrow Fold Sympathy Card

Cut the card base and the cricut will do the writing.  I used a white pen to show up on the black.  With white pens, you get what you pay for.  See my comparison of white pens here.  The writing is the only part that is drawn.  The rest is vinyl.  If you want to change what the card says that can easily be done before cutting, however if you don’t own my fill in fonts, the font will change to Arial and it will not fill in.  Get my fonts here.

Once the vinyl is cut, it will need to be weeded.  If you need to learn to do this you can find some hints and tips here.  For transfer tape I used several strips of painters tape as it won’t harm the paper.  Glad Press and Seal works great for this too.

Assembling the Arrow Fold Sympathy Card

First, re crease all the folds and fold them into an arrow.  The folds don’t exactly meet at the top.  This is by design.  It keeps the card from being too bulky and folding flat.  Then attach the vinyl triangle to the front, centering it between the folds.

On the inside of the card the two triangles don’t quite meet at the top.  Attach them to the card before attaching the rose.  Then center the rose above the sentiment.

To attach the vinyl to the card and not tear the cardstock, the transfer vinyl needs to be used so that the sticky is not too strong.  An alternative to transfer vinyl is to use  layers of painters tape.  It releases better and wont damage the cardstock.

Your Arrow Fold Sympathy Card is done and I am sorry for your loss.
