Two Christmas Gift Card Holders to Make

These gift card holders are made for Christmas but with some minor changes, they can be made for any occasion.  Just change the colors and the sentiments inside and they work for birthdays or anything else!  There is also a purse gift card holder here.

Gift cards don’t have to be the boring gift.  Add a little homemade flavor to your gift.  And these two have custom matching envelopes!

You will need:
        • Heavy 2 sided cardstock for the base
        • Various Cardstock scraps
        • Pen
        • Glue
        • Foam Tape

Paper Selection For the Two Gift Card Holders

I chose Christmas colors for these projects.  The paper for the base of these gift card holders need to be fairly heavy (at least 100 lb. wt.) and needs to be two sided.  They have matching custom envelopes to finish the look.  I used glitter paper and foil for the embellishments to add a little bling.  Change the colors and they can work for any occasion.

Cutting the Two Gift Card Holders

Cut the card bases and the Cricut will do the writing.  I used a black cricut pen for the writing.  Use any color, just make sure that it shows up on your paper.  I used an Access image for the writing.  You can use any pen in your Cricut.  See the trick here.

If you want to change these for birthday or another occasion just change the text.

Otherwise this project is fairly easy to cut.  You can move the parts around the mat to save paper.  If you need to know how to do this, check out my video.

Assembling the Two Gift Card Holders

These projects are fairly easy to make.  Start by re-creasing all the folds including the ones on the envelopes.

Present Gift Card Holder
For the present card, the lights are in three parts.  Glue them together and cross them at the silver caps.  The gold rectangle is attached with foam tape along the short edges so that the gift card can slide under.  I suggest laying the card down on the back of the rectangle and then placing the foam tape to make sure everything fits properly.  Attach one set of lights on the gold rectangle.  Then close the card.
Then attach the red overlay to the card.  Make sure you line it up exactly.  Next attach the silver bow.  And finally the gold bow.  Open and close the card a few times to make sure everything works ok.
Gift Card Holder #2
For this gift card holder, glue the red overlay to the front of the card.  Then attach the green mistletoe pieces.  Next open the card.  The white piece with Merry Christmas goes on the inside of the front and the blank one it attached with foam tape along the short edges.  Again, I suggest laying the card down on the back of the rectangle and then placing the foam tape to make sure everything fits properly.
Envelopes
The envelopes are just as easy.  Match the crease on the overlay with the top crease of the envelope. and glue it in place.  Then fold in the sides and fold up the bottom.  Place liquid glue where those three pieces overlap.  Don’t add too much or your envelope could stick together.  Place the cutouts that match the ones on the card on the front of the envelope for decoration.  Fold the flap down and seal it with resealable glue.  It should open and then seal again that way.

And your Two Gift Card Holders with envelopes are done and ready to mail!
