This Vertical Mom card is very unusual, but maybe your Mom is too. Either way Mom will love this card that you made just for her. Make sure she know you think she is unusual, I mean special.

- Heavy cardstock for the base
- Various Cardstock scraps
- a grommet
- a grommet tool
- Pen
- Glue

Paper Selection
The paper for the base card need to be very heavy, like above 110 lb weight heavy. It needs to hold up to the grommet and being twisted all the time. If you can find patterned paper that heavy go for it, but it is hard to find and means you can’t use a pattern on the rest of the card. I would stick to plain paper.
The letter embellishments on the Vertical Mom card can be any paper. Patterned obviously works for the top layer but I wouldn’t use patterns for the lower (dark red) layer because you don’t see much of it
Cutting the card
Cut the card base and the cricut will do the writing. I used a grey/silver pen. The little pieces of the letters can be cut on one mat

Assembling the Vertical Mom Card
Once all the pieces are cut out, glue the letter embellishments on.
Line the card up with the smallest on top then the next longest and so forth. Punch a hole in the small circle at the top of the card through all three layers.
I used a wonderful tool called The Scraparatus by Karen Foster. I have the amazon link to get one right here.
It will punch a hole through paper, plastic or leather and the Scraparatus does all the work for you. I used it to cut the hole then simply changed heads and set the grommet. I used it all the time. It even has die sets that will cut out letters and small shapes. I have a few but don’t use them much. But the most impressive thing, in my opinion is setting grommets of any size.
If you don’t have one use a paper punch and tie a ribbon or put a brad in the hole.
And the Vertical Mom card is done. Make sure your mom knows you are thinking of her.
